Infusion Therapy and Vascular Access a Marriage of Necessity!
You can’t have one without the other. Without the infusion therapy, there is no need for the catheter. Without the catheter, there would be no method for infusing the prescribed therapy. Just like a marriage, infusion therapy and the catheter are inextricably joined together and cannot be separated.
We specialize in consulting and education services that centers on the patient’s need for safe infusion therapy, incorporating the therapy, administration equipment and techniques, and the vascular access device. The level of knowledge, skills, beliefs, and values in this specialty varies widely because of a lack of consistent and comprehensive education in pre-licensure programs for all healthcare professionals.
Intravenous infusion therapy is a common treatment modality for numerous diagnoses, in all age groups and in all healthcare settings. Due to this breadth, each healthcare organization and device manufacturer must invest in improvement processes for programs, services, and staff. This is now critically important because of patient safety and the burgeoning movement toward value-based purchasing in healthcare.
