The challenges with infusion therapy are found in every healthcare setting.
- New drugs and devices appear almost every day.
- Controversy and confusion about clinical practice are prevalent. Techniques and technology of catheter flushing is just one example.
- Complications are increasing. Catheter-related bloodstream infections costs reach $2.3 billion annually. Infusion-related medications errors account for 61% of all errors.
- Chronic diseases produce anatomical changes that make venipuncture more difficult, increasing the need to rely on advanced skill and new technology.

Today, healthcare consumers have more chronic diseases yet are more knowledgeable about healthcare than ever before. Recent surveys have found that the nurses’ skill with needles, especially venipuncture, is a leading indicator of patient satisfaction with all healthcare facilities.
Are you ready for the demands of infusion therapy in clinical practice today? During your primary nursing education, you were exposed to the basics of medication administration and care of invasive devices. Now it is time to move to the next level to master these challenges. Your goal may be to enhance your knowledge and skill for a busy critical care unit or the diversity of a medical-surgical unit. Or you may find that you have a keen interest in becoming a specialist in infusion therapy and vascular access.

Take control of your professional destiny by assessing your learning needs and establishing a plan to meet your needs. Our educational services are your first step. We offer traditional classroom presentations and electronic learning and we can blend these together to provide a unique learning experience.
| Seminars in a traditional classroom include: |
These seminars require a full day for presentation, beginning at 8 am and ending at 5 pm. A complete schedule of when these courses will be taught in our office is available.
| Available eLearning courses include: |

Attendance at a traditional classroom seminar provides the complete package – increased knowledge, critical thinking, and psychomotor skill practice in a lab practicum. Learning through an online course will increase your knowledge and critical thinking but current telecommunication technology does not allow for the practice of actual skills online. When time constraints or travel are a problem, different learning methods can be combined to accomplish your goal. |
Go online and complete the desired course to gain the knowledge and critical thinking skills. Then attend a lab practicum session for a shorter time to practice procedures with the appropriate equipment and supplies. A lab practicum session provided through the staff development department of your employer will allow you to use the supplies and equipment specific to that facility. For those that have completed the online(s) and are located within a reasonable driving distance to our office, a lab practicum session can be arranged.
The learning methods can suit your needs. Attend and all day seminar for more interaction with the instructor and other learners. Or choose the online course to access at your convenience, followed by a lab practicum session to complete your learning. |
